Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
Your writing is personal. This policy explains what FlowIn collects, how it is handled, and how much stays on your own Mac.
Who we are
FlowIn is a macOS application developed by AstraBreeze, Inc. ("FlowIn", "we", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email [email protected].
Privacy by design
FlowIn is built to keep as much as possible on your own Mac. When you use only the on-device model, the text you write and the on-screen context FlowIn reads are processed locally and never leave your device. Some features use cloud AI to generate higher-quality suggestions, described below, and you can choose to use the local model only.
Information we collect
We collect the following, and only for the purposes described:
- Text and context you are writing. Used to generate suggestions and replies. With the on-device model this is processed locally and not transmitted. With the cloud models, the relevant text is sent to our relay and a third-party AI provider solely to produce a suggestion in the moment. We do not retain this content and do not use it to train models, unless you explicitly opt in.
- On-screen context (optional). To improve suggestions, FlowIn can read text from your active window. It is handled the same way as above (locally, or in transit only for cloud suggestions) and is not stored by us. You can turn it off in Settings.
- Usage analytics. Anonymous, aggregate counts such as keystrokes saved, words completed, and app version, tied to a random installation identifier. These contain none of the text you write and help us understand how FlowIn is used.
- Subscription information. When you subscribe, our payment processor collects your email, name, billing country, and payment details. We receive your email, name, country, and subscription status. We never receive or store full payment card numbers.
- License and device information. Your license key, a random device identifier, and a device name you provide, used to activate your subscription and manage the devices on your plan.
How your writing is processed: local vs cloud
If you use only the on-device model, everything runs on your Mac and your text never leaves your device.
If you use the cloud models, your text is sent over an encrypted connection to our relay and a third-party AI provider only to generate a suggestion in the moment. We do not retain it and do not use it to improve our product or train models, unless you opt in.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run FlowIn, each of which processes data only as needed and under its own terms:
- Stripe, which processes payments and manages subscriptions on our behalf.
- Cloudflare, which hosts our relay and stores subscription and anonymous usage records.
- One or more third-party AI providers, which generate cloud suggestions from text sent to them in the moment.
- Resend, which delivers your license key and account emails.
Data retention
We do not retain the content of what you write. The usage records we keep contain only anonymous, aggregate frequency data, such as counts of keystrokes saved and words completed. They never include your text, the content of your writing, or any personal information.
We keep these anonymous usage records and your subscription records only for as long as needed to run the service and to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
Your choices and rights
You can use only the on-device model to keep your writing fully local, and you can turn off on-screen context in Settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Marketing emails
If you opt in at checkout, we may occasionally email you product news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails. Transactional emails, such as your license key, are sent regardless.
Security
Protecting your privacy is central to how FlowIn is built, and we do our best to safeguard your information. We use strong technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, and we design the product to keep as much of your data as possible on your own device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we treat your data with care.
Children
FlowIn is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
International users
FlowIn is operated from the United States. If you use it from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Continued use of FlowIn after a change means you accept the updated policy.
